Financial Aid

The following scholarships are available for field studies participants to apply. Please note that only registrants who have paid the $500 non-refundable deposit will be considered. 

1.  One World International Scholarship - Irving K Barber Foundation

Scholarships of between $1,000 – $3,500 are awarded to students participating in study, or work-abroad programs that are either experiential learning opportunities (language or cultural training), or that provide credits toward the BC academic credential they are working towards.

To apply, you will need to: 

  • Review the Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship;
  • Obtain “unofficial” transcripts of all your post-secondary studies (in British Columbia and elsewhere);
  • Obtain two references using the forms included with the Application (link below). One reference must be completed by an academic reference (commenting on your academic abilities) and one by a non-academic reference (commenting on your volunteer or extra-curricular activities);
  • Submit the completed Application including your transcripts and reference forms to the International Awards Office of your institution.
  • Be either a Canadian citizen or a Permanent Resident (landed immigrant).

NOTE:  This year, there are TWO waves of application with different deadlines. 

1.  First wave Application deadline:  January 15th, 2019.

2.  Second wave Application deadline:  March 15th, 2019. 

Please submit your application package to Langara College's Registrar and Enrolment Services in T101, attention to Financial Aid.

2.  BC Study Abroad Scholarship

In return for a $1000 scholarship, the chosen student will need to submit the following to be uploaded onto BCSA's Blog:

  • One 300-400 word blog post (with a photo) pre-departure
  • One 300-400 word blog post (with a photo) throughout the duration of the study abroad program
  • One 300-400 word blog post (with a photo) once the study abroad program has finished and the student has returned to BC
  • 8-10 high resolution photos (in JPEG format) upon completion of the student’s study abroad program. In an accompanying Word document, supply the following information for each photo: Image File Name, Location (Geotag), Caption
  • A short presentation at the student's home institution once back in BC
